Many of the homes in our community are full, but we still have some homes available for sale and rent!
Come check out the new houses and join us for light refreshments in our common house! - residents will be offering tours of completed homes.
Learn about Cohousing - a presentation on cohousing will be led by Peter Lazar, Past President of the Cohousing Association of the United States and developer of Emerson Commons, and Emerson Commons resident, Mandy Smith. Childcare will be provided during the event.

What is Cohousing?
Cohousing is a community of private homes clustered around shared space. Each attached or single family home has traditional amenities, including a private kitchen. At Emerson Commons, shared indoor spaces include a common house with a kitchen and dining area, guest rooms, and recreational spaces. Shared outdoor space include parking, walkways, open green space, a pool, an orchard, gardens, and a creek. Neighbors also share resources like tools and lawnmowers.
Households have independent incomes and private lives, but neighbors collaboratively plan and manage community activities and shared spaces. Community activities feature regularly-scheduled shared meals, meetings, and workdays. Neighbors gather for parties, games, movies, and other events. Cohousing makes it easy to form clubs, organize child and elder care, and carpool.

About the Property and Homes
The property is located on the edge of the growth area in Crozet, Virginia. It is 6.1 acres and comes with its own turn-of-the-century farmhouse and pool. The farmhouse has been renovated for use as a Common House, and 26 homes of various sizes are planned.
This will be the first all-solar community in Virginia! All homes come standard with PV solar installation, low-VOC paint, and energy efficient casement windows and heavy duty insulation to reduce energy costs. Homes are clustered to allow 65% of the property to be kept as green space, including grassy areas, gardens, orchards, and forest. Each home has a spacious front porch, and private views out back of mountains and forest.
